RI President to be a lead speaker at G-20 Summit |

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was scheduled to be a lead speaker at G-20 Summit held in Pittsburgh, the USA from 24-25 September 2009. In his speech, he would touch on matters pertaining to environmental issues, one of which being the appeal not to downplay the seriousness of the climate change amidst the current global crisis. The President would also affirm Indonesia’s hope to make G-20 a permanent organization.
Dinno Patti Djalal, the presidential spokesperson, said that G-20 was expected to be a permanent organization, which would play its role only when a crisis strikes; rather, it was expected to be like G-7B or G-8. After all, he added, G-20 was like an embodiment of global economic changes that were no longer monopolized by the U.S., Europe or Japan only. G-20 was of great importance for Indonesia and its economic growth as well as for the welfare and advancement of the economy and welfare of the world community. After attending the Summit, the President would head for Boston to meet with several American businessmen and would see a presentation on renewable energy.
In addition, the president would deliver a speech at Harvard University under the theme of “Harmony among Civilization”.
