Gamelan heaved again. This time, Indonesian Embassy in Vatican colaborating with Saveriani missionary and Pro Loco Decimana association organized gamelan and dance show in San Pietro in Vincoli Ravenna Italia. The Indonesian Ambassador to the Holy See, Suprapto Martosetomo, explained that this show is an example of cultural diversity in Indonesia.
Father Nicola Collasuono, a Saveriani missionary, was very happy remembering that the show, Concerto di Danze e Canti, was a realization of an idea that came up since 2009. He appreciated the positive respond of Indonesian Embassy by sending the gamelan team, Gong Wisnu Wara, to perform in that show. There were not less than 300 people came to the show, including Vicar Bishop of Italy, Monsignor Alberto Graziani.
The representative of Ravenna municipal, Davide Corrali, responded positively the cooperation of the show. Corrali explained that the show and the learning about gamelan will give knowledge to Ravenna citizens about Indonesian culture.
The dance was followed by langgam composition and Repentance dance, created by an Indonesian Father in Italy, Merak dance, Gangsaran, Ngremo dance, Gundul-Gundul Pacul, Menthog-Menthog, and Kurusetra composition. The series of Gong Wisnu Wara show ended by Bambangan Cakil dance.
In the middle of the show, Profesor Giovanni Giurati from La Sapienza University who is the partner of Indonesian Embassy in Vatican in developing Javanese culture in Italy, gave an explanation about the background of each composition so the audiences can understand the philosophy behind those compositions.
