West Java Exhibits Trade and Investment Promotion in Leipzig Germany

Berlin – Indonesian Embassy in Germany had provided neccesary facilities to the Trade and Investment Mission of the West Java’s Regional Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPMD) during its activities series in Germany to promote economic potentials and investment opportunities. Delegation, which consisted of 17 partisipants from private sector and government, had previously joint the Coffee, Tea, and Cocoa Exhibition (COTECA 2010) in Hamburg, on 4 – 6 June 2010.

Head of West Java BKPM, Agus Gustiar, presented various trade potentials and investment opportunities in West Java Province to the Government as well as to the private sector in Leipzig. There are at least five investment opportunities offered, development of international airport, construction of integrated region for waste recycling process, cow ranch business, geothermal, and foundation of education center for skilled workforce on nursing sector.
Dr. Thomas Hoffman, in his welcoming speech, emphasizes information exchange of both regions to realize a concrete cooperation that benefits both sides. Leipzig and Indonesia have long been in a very good relationship. Besides, commercial attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Berlin declared its readiness to assist the cooperation between Leipzig IHK and West Java BKPMD.
Leipzig is an industrial and trading city. Its location in the center of Europe has made this city into an important exhibition center in the world for hundreds of years. Leipzig’s near position to new economic growth regions in the Eastern European, makes this city interesting for investors, both domestic and foreign investors. German big otomotive companies, such as BMW and Porsche produce their newest car model in Leipzig.

This is one of the outcomes of the meeting of Vice Trade Minister of Panama, Jose Domingo Arias with Indonesian delegation, headed by the Director General of American and Europe, Ms. Retno L. P. Marsudi, accompanied by Indonesian Ambassador to Mexico, Andung Nitimihardja. This meeting held on 24 August 2009 in Panama City. Arias encouraged Indonesian businessmen to take advantage of the Colon Free Zone (CFZ) and Panama Channel, so Indonesian products can also reach American markets, particularly Central America, northern side of South America, and Caribou. In that meeting, Indonesia and Panama agreed that businessmen of the two countries could take advantage of the exhibition in each country and the sending of trading mission as one of the efforts to recognize and utilize business opportunity.
