Panama is interested in importing more textiles, yarn and foot wears from Indonesia. This is one of the outcomes of the meeting of Vice Trade Minister of Panama, Jose Domingo Arias with Indonesian delegation, headed by the Director General of American and Europe, Ms. Retno L. P. Marsudi, accompanied by Indonesian Ambassador to Mexico, Andung Nitimihardja. This meeting held on 24 August 2009 in Panama City. Arias encouraged Indonesian businessmen to take advantage of the Colon Free Zone (CFZ) and Panama Channel, so Indonesian products can also reach American markets, particularly Central America, northern side of South America, and Caribou.

In that meeting, Indonesia and Panama agreed that businessmen of the two countries could take advantage of the exhibition in each country and the sending of trading mission as one of the efforts to recognize and utilize business opportunity. At the moment, there are more than 7000 Indonesian crew members who work in Panama ships.
