ASEAN countries affirmed their commitment to resolve the violation of human rights by forming a commission. This commitment was declared by the ASEAN countries on ASEAN the annual conference in Thailand, Friday 23/10. The commission, formed and launched in the conference, was called the Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights.

The establishment of the commission was urgent because the Government of Myanmar was considered of not imposing the punishment to the human rights violators and focusing only on the promotion rather than the human rights protection.
Nevertheless, the ASEAN countries were convinced that the implementation would face difficulties, especially when they try to unite the commitment from communist, monarchies, sultanates, and military countries within ASEAN. “It is not easy. In the middle of world globalization, we do not have so much time,” said the Prime Minister of Thailand, Abhisit Vejjajiva, whose country hosted the conference.
This ASEAN annual conference was scheduled to discuss two important matters, namely: launching a commission that sharply criticizes the violation of human rights; and finding the best solution to achieve economic integrity amongst ASEAN countries until 2015.
