Indonesia’s Efforts for an Agreement in the Copenhagen Summit

Indonesia is making an attempt so that an agreement can be reached among member countries at the 15th Climate Change Summit, known as Conference of Parties (COP) organized by United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark in December 2009. Rahmat Witoelar, Chairman of the National Council on Climate Change, who is also Chief of the Indonesian Delegation to another UN International Climate Change Summit in Barcelona, Spain, on November 2-6, 2009, said that as one of the pioneer countries formulating Bali Action Plan two years ago, Indonesia would keep doing its best so that an agreement could be reached in the Copenhagen summit.


President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono: the Government Sets 15 Selected Programs for 100 Days

Jakarta : During 100 days of the second period of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s administration, there are 45 important programs to be conducted all over Indonesia, particularly these related to sectoral and regional establishment. Those 45 programs are the 100 days program of the second Indonesia Bersatu cabinet that will be conducted in 5 years. He set 15 of them as the Selected Program that must be implemented on the first 100 days.


Sukabumi Represent Indonesia in ASEAN Ornamental Plant Festival

President Accepts Letter of Credence of Five Ambassadors

Jakarta – President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono accepted letter of credence of five Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of friendly countries for Indonesia on Friday (6/11) in Merdeka Palace. They are Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden--Ewa Ulrika Polano, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium—Christiaan Tanghe, Ambassador the Republic of Hungary—Szilvester Bus, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany—Dr. Norbert BAAS, and Ambassador of the Republic of Mozambique—Carlos Agustinho do Rosario.


Indonesian Madrasah Education Model Is Implemented by Other Countries

Jakarta – Madrasah (Islamic School) education model in Indonesia is implemented by four south-south countries comprising Egypt, Bangladesh, Nigeria, and Pakistan. According to the Minister of Religious Affairs, Suryadharma Ali, the four countries focused on madrasah for its uniqueness in Indonesia. Madrasah is successful to implement national education plus religion curriculum. The proportion of religious education is more than other school model.

Indonesia Invites Japan to invest in Construction Sector

As one of the partner countries for Indonesia, Japan has the biggest investment in the country. There have been more than 1,000 Japanese companies which invest in Indonesia, employing approximately 200,000 Indonesian workers. Thus, amid growing economic growth in the country, Japan is invited to be part of the growth. Head of Construction and Human Resources Training of Department of Public Works, Sumaryanto Widayatin, while officially opening the 5th Indonesia-Japan Conference on Construction, said on Thursday, October 10th in Jakarta that his party was going to work closely with Japan, particularly in the development of infrastructure.



President SBY Inaugurates 34 Ministers and 2 High-Level Officials

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), on Wednesday (22/10) afternoon, inaugurated 34 Ministers of United Indonesia Cabinet II and 2 Minister-level Officials, Head of Presidential  Work Unit for Development Supervision and Control (UKP4) and State Intelligent Agency (BIN) at the State Palace, Jakarta. The Ministers were inaugurated based on the Presidential Decree No. 84 P/2009, while 2 (two) high-level officials on No. 85 P/2009 and No. 86 P/2009.


ASEAN Countries Agree to Form Human Rights Commission

ASEAN countries affirmed their commitment to resolve the violation of human rights by forming a commission. This commitment was declared by the ASEAN countries on ASEAN the annual conference in Thailand, Friday 23/10. The commission, formed and launched in the conference, was called the Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights.


Indonesia Gets the second position In the Asian Pacific Astronomy Olympiad (APAO)

JAKARTA - Indonesia succeeded in occupying the second position of the 5th Asian-Pacific Astronomy Olympiad (APAO), which took place in Damyang, South Korea, on 7 - 13 October  2009. Indonesia won two gold medals and two bronze medals, below South Korea with 3 golds, 5 silvers, and 5 bronzes. In the third position was Thailand that won 1 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronzes.  Even though Indonesia’s achievement was still below South Korea, it was something to be proud of as it was the first gold for the country after participating in the event for the 5th times. Moreover, Indonesia also achieved the best result for junior category (secondary school).
