Indonesia Supports the Peace and Rehabilitation Process in Afghanistan

Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs. DR. R. M. Marty M. Natalegawa affirmed Indonesia’s commitment to support the peace and rehabilitation process in Afghanistan, by supporting the institutional reinforcement through several programs. This was stated on London Conference on Afghanistan in London, 28 Januari 2010, attended by the British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, the President of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, and UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, as the co-host, the Foreign Affairs Ministers, delegation from more than 70 countries, the representatives of regional and international organisation, including the World Bank, IMF, OIC, ADB and NATO, as well as the representatives of non-governmental organisation which is engaged in humanity and development in Afghanistan.


The Import Duties of Fisheries Products to China Is Zero Percent

The Indonesian Minister of Fisheries and Marine Affairs, Fadel Muhammad, said that China has reduced the import duties of all fisheries products from 17.5 percent to zero percent. The ASEAN-China Free Trade Area/AC-FTA gives a positive impact to increase the volume of fisheries products trade as well as to increase investment cooperation. It also reduces import duties of fisheries products import from China to Indonesia so that it will carry out fisheries products trade between Indonesia and China. China has the highest population in the world and is one of the country with the highest economic growth.



NORTH SUMATERA TO BE THE CENTER OF NATIONAL INDUSTRY

Deputy to the Minister of Agriculture, Bayu Krisnamurti, when announcing the development of agriculture-based industry cluster and Olecochemical in North Sumatera,  said that Simalungun region in North Sumatera is in the progress to be made as the center of national industry cluster. After North Sumatera province, other provinces will also be developed into other centers of national industry, among others, West Sumatera, West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Papua.


Timor Leste Reexport Indonesian SMEsCO Products

JAKARTA – Indonesia must be able to take the most benefit of its cooperation with Timor Leste in Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives (SMEsCO) to promote product marketing or competitive comodities in real sector. Halomoan Tamba, Deputy Assistant of Domestic Trade, explained Timor Leste can function as a spearhead of Indonesian product marketing by utilizing its good relationship with certain countries.


Central Java to Host the Asia-Australia Rafting Championship

Semarang, Central Java was appointed the host of Asia-Australia Rafting Championship, titled Australasian Rafting Champs 2010, by the Managing Committee of Indonesia Rafting Federation (PB AJI), to be held on 22-28 April 2010, followed by 12 countries in Asia and Australia. The presentation of the championship was taken place in the Governor’s office, on 28 January 2010, attended by the Department Head of Youth and Sport, Rudi Apriantono, and the PB AJI’s committee. The Division Head of Championship Promotion and Publication, Diah Bisono, S.E., explained that Central Java was appointed the host because it has nature as well as tourism potential.


Bali to Host the 17th International Conference of Young Scientist (ICYS)

“Bali will be brightened by international events such as the 17th International Conference of Young Scientist (ICYS) on 12 to 17 April 2010,” said the 2010 ICYS Indonesia organizing committee to the Governor of Bali, Made Mangku Pastika, in the Governor’s office, on Tuesday (26/1). It is a competition of research report presentation of young scientists from all over the world on physics, mathematics, computer, and ecology. There will be 23 participants from America, Europe and Asia, including Indonesia as the host country.


Indonesian Emil Salim Appointed Member of High Level Taskforce (HLT)

Professor Emil Salim was appointed one of 15 members of High Level Taskforce (HLT) on Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS) at the Intergovernmental Meeting (IGM), on January 12, 2010 in Geneva, Swiss. The main duty of the IGM, as mandated by the Declaration of World Climate Conference (WCC-3), held in Geneva in September 2009, is to formulate the terms of reference for HLT and to vote for its members.


RI to Ratify AANZ AFTA

London – A group of Norway students take a pre-university training before they enter the universities in Bali, Indonesia, and also enjoy the beauty of Bali. The Third Secretary, Information, Social, and Cultural Affairs of Indonesian Embassy in Oslo, Febby Fahrani, explained that the pre-university training was organized by 4 institutions, comprising 533 students: Gateway College sent 312 students, Go Study sent 97 students, Active Education sent 88 students, and Kulturakademiet sent 36 students.



South Korea-Southeast Sulawesi Collaborate in Managing Gold Mine

Kendari – Future Green Human (FGH) Group, a South Korean company, signed a Cooperation Agreement with Provincial Government of Southeast Sulawesi in mining sector, in particular, gold mining. The signing was carried out by Southeast Sulawesi Governor, Nur Alam and Head Director of Indonesian FGH Group, Mr. Park Soon Up and Chairman of Korean FGH Group, Oh Myung Suk, in Kendari, on January 19, 2010. The value of the investment will be further defined after having a location survey in Bombana, Southeast Sulawesi.
